The winds of change are beginning to blow in Picard now that the building for a new grocery, IGA, is under way and making steady progress. I recently noticed that 7-11 added more coolers to the grocery and was beginning to offer new products. I went to James Store this week to do some shopping. I had heard a rumor that there was an air-conditioned section now for more perishable items. I had to go check it out for myself. I’ve officially verified Ross rumor #101… there is a little section, to the left of entryway nicely stocked with groceries and pleasantly cooled. I know this may not sound like a big deal, but when I first arrived to Dominica there was no place in Picard to shop for groceries that had A/C…and I do find it nice to cool down while I am cruising down the aisles trying to decide what I am going to purchase…and I do think it will reduce some of the strange tastes I find in products here that do not exist in the same products elsewhere. I think the heat, coupled with poor air circulation, really effects products that sit on the shelves for a long time.
I can see a lot of progress in James’ Store. It is cleaner, more organized, has less expired goods on the shelves, and more new items on the shelves. Thanks James. We appreciate every effort you make.
