Syndicate Nature Trail

I recently went and spent some time up Morne Diablotin at the Syndicate Nature Trail. It was the first time I was in the rainforest when it didn’t rain! Needless to say, I took lots of photos and walked very leisurely.

The road that leads up Diablotin is only about a 10-15 minute car ride from RUSM. It takes about 20 minutes to drive up to the top of the mountain where you find the Syndicate Welcome Center. Before you get to the top you can take a detour to Syndicate Falls or visit some of the vendors/farmers in the area. The hike through the rainforest is an easy one-no river crossings and very few stairs/inclines, perfect for families with small children. One of the trailheads for the Waitukubuli Trail is right across from the Syndicate welcome center as well.

As you walk through the rainforest, there are placards identifying what kinds of trees,  plants, and birds are around you. Syndicate is a famous place for bird watching on the island, so you might even get to see the Sisserou or Jaco parrots. Follow the signs to reach the look out point.

Syndicate Nature Trail is a great place to go to relax and find some peace and quiet. Since it’s so close to Ross, you might as well check it out over break or when you have some down time 🙂 .
